This dosen’t function at all like your goto EQ inside or out. If you follow the diagram from the bottom up you see the signal splits and you end up with 8 Bands. Each horizontal box 1/2’s the frequency it receives & the slider adjusts the crossover/divide point. Above the 8 bands you will find a mute & volume pot. I recommend you stick to the top main 8 bands until you get the hang of it.

(Tip - remember the frequency range of each horizontal box gets split in half and sent to the box above it. So say you set the bottom box to split at 1000hz the above box to the left will receive 1000hz down. You will have to keep in mind that the box is only dealing with 1000hz down & that it will do no good to bring the slider past 1000hz. Each slider can handle 20-20,000 Depending on samplerate.)

Ok have fun with this beast of a thing.

2. Insert Multi Comp-1 into the track that you want to compress.

3. Set the track to be compressed to 8 Channels.

4. Select what Band(s) you want to side-chain compress in Multi Comp-1

5. Now disable the Master send from the side-chain source if you don’t want to it to be audible. Then send the signal to the appropriate Multi Comp-1 side-chain input.

That’s it. Hit play and adjust Multi Comp-1 to your liking.

After hearing “I wish I could afford those plug-ins” I was inspired to make VST versions of my modular created compressors.

These cover just about all compression needs for musical applications. I have included a Feed-Forward, Feed-Back, & Side-chain compressor to use as you feel necessary. I have also added optional detection circuit Filters, & Drive stage for all the vintage sounding or modern punchy color you could want. (Tip-Use the listen functional to setup your detection Key). Have fun.

More info:

Feed Forward designs take the control voltage directly from the input, and are generally more suited for fast Attack work. However a bit of practice is required as threshold, attack, and release affect the sound differently depending on the feed structure.

Feed Back compressors take some of their control voltage from the output, which is often interpreted as more musical-sounding. However a bit of practice is required.

Key Features.
- The choice between both Feed-Forward or Feed-Back designs
- Detection Filters & Drive
- Key listen
- Side-Chain
- Channel Link/Unlink
- Musical

If you find these tools useful please donate what you can. Donate Link.

Updated : 04-07-08

This is a 100% transparent Four/Two Band Frequency Divider vst plugin set for use in (semi)modular mixing environments. This plugin splits your audio into bands & keeps your audio integrity intact. This can be used for frequency dependent FX & mastering purposes. It uses subtractive phase techniques as opposed to minimal phase EQ. In other words the basic signal flow design framework wont change or color your audio. You can test this by double bussing & inverting the phase.
1.1 Update: Now with 24,12,& 6db slope dividers.

Enjoy
