More than one program using the Wave 824

Postby robertm2000 » Tue Jun 01, 2010 1:25 pm

I have a Wave 824. Needless to say it's fabulous - better than any other sound card I've tried. Then I found out about the Windows XP drivers which gave me my card back. One problem therewith - I use it with Mackie Tracktion. I'd like to use Sony Sound forge with it at the same time but the XP driver for the Gadgetlabs doesn't seem to switch when I open Sound Forge. I have Tracktion running and it has a dialogue box to open an external editor but Sound Forge won't work when I'm using the Wave 824 AND runninganother recording program. Any Ideas? Thanks!

Hi,

Some wonderful news from GL secret lab deep in the mountain.

After all the work most applications worked with the new ASIO driver... only Cubase 5 refused to do it until today.
So after finding a nicely hidden bug, we finally have a fully working driver. Yay :)
What to do next:
- some minor addons that I need to code into GUI... mainly info off behavior
- write sync cards function... Eric volunteered to check if the sync stuff works...
- multi channel transfer routines
- test if it works under 64bit environment... I'm sure that it will as the whole code was written just with this
intention in mind
So we are very close now. :)

Mostek's last update (06/12) regarding the driver update indicates that everything in the new driver is almost finished. I'd suggest waiting for the new driver to be released and then if there's still problems, we can take it from there OK?

hi robert
in my experience i've never been able to use 2 or more audio programs at the same time, it seems that they take over the whole driver and won't let another program use it.
i.e: if i have nuendo open, i can't even use winamp or windows media player at the same time, the only option is to check the "release ASIO driver in background", but then of course nuendo will not sound until it comes to front.

I haven't used mackie tracktion, and don't remember if the soundforge have this "release driver" option, maybe you can check that out, hope it helps.

hey doug, thanks for the update!

Hey esacerdoti,

Since Mostek has the new driver working with Cubase 5, I'd say that your problem with Nuendo 4 is probably solved. One other thing that I forgot to mention about the new driver is that Mostek said it will definitely support Win XP because so much audio software still needs XP to run properly.
